Your Aftercare Protocol

The first hours after your appointment determine how smoothly your bronze develops. These steps help protect your color and support a long, even fade.

First Hours After Application

• Avoid water, sweating, and touching the skin until your first rinse.

• Wear loose, dark clothing to prevent friction on the developing bronze.

• Use dark sheets to protect bedding from cosmetic bronzer transfer.

After Your First Rinse

• Rinse with lukewarm water only and avoid soap during this first shower.

• Pat your skin dry gently with a soft towel—never rub.

• Moisturize twice daily with a non‑oil‑based lotion to maintain hydration.

Daily Care

• Use a pH‑balanced, sulfate‑free body wash to protect your color.

• Keep showers brief and lukewarm to prevent premature fading.

• Apply an oil‑free SPF before sun exposure, as your bronze does not provide UV protection.

What to Avoid

• Avoid oils, petroleum products, and oil‑based scrubs, as they break down the tan.

• Stay out of chlorine for 48 hours and rinse immediately after swimming.

• Delay exfoliation until you are ready to remove the tan completely.

Your Prep Protocol

Preparing your skin correctly ensures an even, long‑lasting bronze. Please follow these steps in the 48 hours leading up to your appointment.

48 Hours Before

• Complete waxing or laser hair removal at least 24–48 hours before your appointment.

• Perform a full‑body exfoliation to remove dry skin and any remaining self‑tanner.

• Shave several hours before your session, not immediately beforehand.

• Begin moisturizing twice daily to support an even, hydrated canvas.

Day of Appointment

• Perform a gentle exfoliation to ensure a smooth, even surface.

• Arrive with clean, dry skin free of lotion, deodorant, perfume, or oils.

• Avoid coconut oil and all oil‑based products, as they block development.

• Wear loose, dark clothing and slip‑on shoes to protect your developing bronze.

Understanding Your Development Window

Your rinse time determines the final depth of your bronze. Rapid development solutions typically require a 2–5 hour window, with shorter times producing a lighter glow and longer times creating a deeper result. Bronze Organics and Perfectly Clear solutions require a full 8–12 hour development period. If this is your first visit, it is best to rinse at the earlier end of your recommended window.
